Giant Elbrus Kennel
About Us
My name is Marian Pop and I am the founder of Giant Elbrus — a kennel dedicated exclusively to the selection and breeding of the Caucasian Shepherd from traditional Russian bloodlines.
Giant Elbrus Kennel grew from a lifelong passion for dogs, nurtured over many years. In 2014, we made the decision to focus all our energy on the Caucasian Shepherd. Before that, we had owned dogs of several breeds including the Romanian Bucovina Shepherd, Romanian Mioritic Shepherd, German Shepherd and Rottweiler.
From the very beginning, I knew that building an authentic genetic foundation meant importing from the country of origin — Russia. On December 1, 2014, we brought home our first Russian import: Odji Iz Svetlogo Doma, a female from old working lines, bred by Veronika Donicheva at the Svetly Dom kennel.
In conversation with Mrs. Galina Kirkitskaya, President of the Caucasian Shepherd Club of Russia, Gorzhus Toboi Vargun was recommended as a stud for my female. In 2015, we imported him — Champion of Russia, Club Champion of Russia, son of Gorzhus Toboi Fartovii, widely regarded as one of the finest stud dogs in Russia — from Viktoria Tasina's TSKARO kennel.

In 2016, the first Giant Elbrus litter arrived — the 'A' litter, which produced outstanding puppies with both national and international results, establishing the kennel on 100% Russian bloodlines.

Those early imports were not just the beginning of our story — they set a standard we continue to uphold. We regularly bring in top-quality dogs from Russia, including Ishter Iz Stai Volkov and Bairak Azskas Boets, both Champions of Russia, Grand Champions of Russia and Club Champions of Russia.
